XAT Syllabus 2025
What is XAT ?
XAT stands for Xavier Aptitude Test. It is a national-level management entrance exam conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur for admission to the course of MBA/ PGDM. XLRI has been conducting the exam on behalf of XAMI for more than 70 years. This is one of the most sought-after exams by MBA aspirants since the XAT score is accepted in over 700 colleges across the country, including XLRI, 95 XAT Associates, and the 12 XAMI member institutes.
Who Can Take the XAT 2025 Test?
Graduation: The candidate should have a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university.
Minimum Marks: No minimum aggregate marks criteria in graduation to apply for the exam.
Age: There is no upper age limit criterion to appear for XAT.
Final Year Students: Students in their final year can also apply for the test, provided they complete their graduation by June 2025.
Attempts allowed: There is no limit for attempts on this exam.
Selection Process of XAT
The selection process of XAT for XLRI includes shortlisting of candidates on the basis of XAT or GMAT score, PI, and GD. However, the final selection will include entrance score, personal interview, group discussion, academic score, work experience, and academic and gender diversity. Meeting the cut off is the minimum requirement for eligibility to XLRI MBA admission.

XAT Syllabus 2025: Highlights
Exam Sections:
- Quantitative Aptitude (QA): Tests mathematical and analytical skills.
- Verbal & Logical Ability (VA & LR): Assesses language proficiency, reading comprehension, and reasoning.
- Decision Making (DM): Focuses on ethical dilemmas and problem-solving skills.
- General Knowledge (GK): Covers static and current affairs.
Essay Writing: Post-exam essay on contemporary or abstract topics (30 minutes).
Number of Questions:
- Around 100-105 questions.
Duration:
- Main Exam: 3 hours.
- Essay Writing: Additional 30 minutes.
Marking Scheme:
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for incorrect answers.
- Penalty for Unattempted Questions: 0.10 marks for more than 8 unattempted questions.
Difficulty Level: Generally high, designed to test advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Mode of Exam: Online, computer-based.
